Deborah Conway

Deborah Conway has been a significant and eloquent contributor to the Australian music scene for over 30 years. Her first band Do Re Mi topped the charts; her first solo album achieved platinum sales whilst simultaneously becoming the most shoplifted album of that year!

Conway continues to release albums that attract critical acclaim from reviewers and appreciative audiences, most recently Stories of Ghosts, described as 10 dialogues around themes from the Torah, from an atheist Jewish perspective. Conway has pursued a career of extracurricular activities alongside the core business of writing, recording and performing her songs. These have included producing the national concert series called Broad of all female singer/songwriters 2005 – 2008, Artistic Director for the Queensland Music Festival 2009 – 2011 and currently Festival Director for The Shir Madness Melbourne Jewish Music Festival. In 2015 Conway & her long time collaborator Willy Zygier’s 1993 5/4 anthem Alive & Brilliant, was inducted into the National Film & Sound Archive.
