Santtu-Matias Rouvali

Santtu-Matias Rouvali is Chief Conductor of the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor of the Copenhagen Phil. Already a regular with many international orchestras including the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Gothenburg, Finnish Radio and BBC symphonies, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the Oslo and Royal Stockholm philharmonics, this season also includes debuts with the Bamberger Symphoniker and the Indianapolis Symphony. In the 2014/15 season he conducted the New Jersey and Milwaukee Symphonies, and he has already returned twice to the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. Over the past seasons, he has worked with many prominent soloists including Mischa Maisky, Alisa Weilerstein, Vilde Frang, Simone Lamsma, Renaud Capuçon, Truls Mørk and Martin Grubinger.

In opera, Rouvali has conducted Bizet’s Carmen and Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with West Coast Kokkola Opera, and will conduct Verdi’s La Forza del Destino with Tampere Opera next season.
