2020 Young Instrumentalist Prize Finalist Recital

​Queensland Symphony Orchestra presents the 2020 Young Instrumentalist Prize.

The Young Instrumentalist Prize presents an opportunity for exceptional Queensland school students to audition in front of a panel of Queensland Symphony Orchestra musicians, with a public performance opportunity and cash prizes and mentoring opportunities available to up to six finalists. The overall winner will have the opportunity to perform as a soloist on stage with Queensland Symphony Orchestra.

Eligibility
Open to students enrolled in a Queensland secondary school in 2020 performing on an orchestral instrument (including saxophone) at a minimum standard of AMEB Grade 8. Audition pieces must be a movement or movements from a recognised concerto or a work for solo instrument and orchestra up to the maximum time limit. If more than one movement is selected they must be from the same concerto.

Entries open: Tuesday 20 August 2019
Entries close: Friday 29 November 2019
Auditions: Monday 10 and Tuesday 11February 2020
Finalists Recital: Saturday 14 March 2020
Winner’s Performance: 27 and 28 May 2020

Application fee: $75

An application fee on $75 is applicable. Further details on this will be provided soon. Application fee is non-refundable once the applicant has been offered an audition.
