Mozart's Jupiter

Mozart's Jupiter

The story goes that an early listener to Mozart’s Symphony No.41 heard the opening flourishes and was reminded of the Roman god Jupiter and his thunderbolts.

The name stuck, and this symphony, one of the greatest pieces of orchestral music ever written, has been known as the Jupiter Symphony ever since. Featured alongside this classical masterpiece will be Britten's gorgeous Les Illuminations, performed by Australian soprano, Emma Pearson. Recently returned from a 10-year stint wowing audiences in Germany, she is sure to melt the hearts of Queensland music-lovers.

Saturday evening audiences will hear another famous work with a nickname: Schubert's 'Unfinished' Symphony – unfinished because Schubert died before completing it. Amazingly it's perfect as it is.
