Happy Birthday Beethoven

Happy Birthday Beethoven

In 2019, listeners to ABC Classic voted Ludwig van Beethoven Australia’s favourite composer in their Top 100 Composer countdown.

Why is Beethoven so popular? We think it’s because his music appeals to everyone – if you know a lot about music, you can enjoy his masterful compositions and the amazing technical challenges for the musicians who perform him.

But equally, if you are brand new to orchestra music, Beethoven’s music contains enough beauty, excitement and deep emotion to instantly enchant you. This Music on Sundays concert will feature several highlights of Beethoven’s music before concluding with a rendition of his funniest work - wait until you hear the metronome joke! – his Symphony No.8.
