Explore Queensland Symphony Orchestra with a special concert for upper primary and secondary students. The Concert of Curiosities will explore rhythm and orchestral colour across the eras of music, and the most amazing instruments of the Orchestra.

From a contemporary Australian work titled Vortex by Harry Sdraulig, the Romantic era tone poem Night on Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky, the curious Pulcinella Suite by Stravinsky which harks back to the Baroque era , Mozart’s Symphony in C major, Movement 1 all about toys to the French delights of Ravel and the Empress of the Pagodas from the Mother Goose Suite this concert will raise the curiosity of students and teachers alike to further explore the wonders of music.

This concert will also give students the opportunity to explore the sounds of the lower strings with a Concerto for Double Bass and Orchestra by Bottesini, performed by Section Principal Phoebe Russell and the amazing Young Instrumentalist Prize winner Ho-Se Kim performing the first movement of Shostakovich Concerto No.1 for Cello and Orchestra.
