Bronwyn Douglass

Mezzo-soprano

Bronwyn graduated with a Masters in Operatic Performance from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University in 2014, receiving an Award for Academic Excellence and the Wagner Society in Queensland Encouragement Award.

She has been the recipient of many awards in 2015, including: 1st Place in the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Aria; 1st  Place in the Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition; 2nd Place in the Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Awards; and finalist in the Herald Sun Aria.

This year Bronwyn performed the roles of Miss Baggot in Britten’s The Little Sweep (AFCM), Second Witch in Dido and Aeneas (BBF), and Nadezhda von Meck in Sean Ross’ new opera Angel of Music.

Bronwyn attended the Lisa Gasteen National Opera School in both 2013 and 2014, and looks forward to another year at the school in 2015, having received the Cathryn Mittleheuser Scholarship. She will then be moving to Sydney to continuing her operatic training.
