Most recently, he was the 2023 New Zealand Assistant Conductor-in-Residence, based in Auckland with the Auckland Philharmonia, and working closely with their Music Director, Giordano Bellincampi. His responsibilities in New Zealand included additional engagements and assisting weeks with both the Christchurch and Dunedin symphony orchestras.

Additionally, Nathaniel has assisted on projects with both the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Queensland Ballet. His credits include Assistant/Off-stage conductor in Richard Strauss’ Eine Alpensinfonie, and cover conductor on Kenneth MacMillan’s ballet Manon. His studies at the Conservatorium afforded many opportunities to assist and cover conduct, including productions of Gilbert & Sullivan’s Iolanthe, Kurt Weill’s Street Scene, and Mozart’s La Finta Giadiniera.

Nathaniel is a participant in the 2023/24 iteration of the Australian Conducting Academy, affording him the opportunity to work with Australia and New Zealand’s leading symphony orchestras in masterclasses. He holds a Master’s degree from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, where he studied under the tutelage of Johannes Fritzsch. He made his debut with the Queensland Conservatorium Opera Orchestra in 2021, in a performance of Kurt Weill’s Street Scene. His orchestral debut came in 2022 with the Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra, performing Fanny Mendelssohn’s Overture in C and Anna Amalia of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel’s Overture to Erwin und Elmire.

In 2024, Nathaniel looks forward to engagements with the Queensland and Tasmanian Symphony orchestras, Queensland Ballet, the Auckland Philharmonia, and the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.
