Rainer Saville

Rainer Saville is Section Principal Trumpet with Queensland Symphony Orchestra.

He is also the former Associate Principal Trumpet with the Auckland Philharmonia. 

He has enjoyed versatile career as a soloist and chamber and orchestral musician, with performances throughout the US, Asia, Europe and Australia.

Performances in concert halls across the world have taken him to the Sydney Opera House, Suntory Hall (Tokyo), the Kölner Philharmonie, and David Geffen Hall in New York among others. Rainer has worked with several notable conductors, including Essa Pekka Salonen, David Robertson, Osmo Vänskä and Alan Gilbert, and has performed with leading orchestras such as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, Australian Chamber Orchestra, and the Sydney Symphony and Melbourne Symphony orchestras. His festival appearances have included performances at the Music Academy of the West, the Pacific Music Festival, and the Lucerne Festival.

Rainer also features on several recordings, including HOLST: The Planets (2015) with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and two CDs with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra including Brandenburg Celebrates (2015), and Noël! Noël! Live in Concert (2017) - on which he performs Vivaldi’s Concerto for two Trumpets on Natural Trumpet with his former teacher, Leanne Sullivan.

Rainer’s teachers have included Leanne Sullivan and Dave Elton in Australia, and internationally, Barbara Butler and Charles Geyer at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music in the USA.
